Duncan Bruce

A Chartered Professional Structural Engineer since 2006, Duncan leads design teams to deliver multi-million-dollar engineering projects across New Zealand. His 20 years of engineering experience encompasses all levels within operations, project management, people management and consultancy. He has been a Director of Strata Group Consulting Engineers since 2013, guiding and mentoring staff members as the business has grown steadily from five to over 30 employees and focusing on continuous improvement for client delivery.
Duncan has in-depth experience in major infrastructure projects and commercial and industrial, and adeptly leads civil and structural design teams to deliver engineering projects nationwide. Recent projects include several high-profile developments with values of up to $100 million. His specialist areas include large-scale structures, collaborative ventures, and feasibility studies. He has been involved in several large-scale developments at the 118-hectare Irongate Industrial Zone in Hastings, including the two-hectare Rockit Global packing facility, which opened in 2021.
Efficient and easy to deal with, Duncan’s collaborative style ensures that the best engineering outcomes are achieved, with all project members communicating clearly, discussing options and working as a team. Duncan values the solid and long-term relationships he has gained through working on many multi-disciplinary projects with colleagues and others across the industry. He embraces new, sustainable technologies while upholding values, positively impacting communities, and taking climate action.
Duncan is local to the East Coast in the true sense of the word, having traced his whakapapa back to the landing of the waka Takitimu at Mahia Peninsula some 700 years ago.
