RELEVANCE
This project highlights Strata Group’s use of engineered timber products throughout, working in close collaboration with Tumu Group’s preferred suppliers, Timberspan and BBI Wood Products.

THE BRIEF
BBI Wood Products and Tumu Property sought to create a purpose-built training facility in Irongate, Hastings featuring a large, unobstructed practical workspace for hands-on training, along with kitchen facilities, office space, and areas to accommodate the Hawke’s Bay Jobs and Skills Hub and Good Wood Products. The facility needed to showcase engineering timber structure.

THE SOLUTION
Strata Group provided structural engineering services utilising an efficient LVL portal frame system to deliver the large clear span warehouse required for the versatile training environment.

THE OUTCOME
The completed facility now serves as a cornerstone for youth employment pathways in Hawke’s Bay, practical workspaces and resources needed to launch sustainable careers in the construction and timber industries. The efficient structural solution enabled cost-effective construction while creating an inspiring learning environment that demonstrates best-practice engineered timber design. By partnering with Tumu Property and bbi Wood Products on this project, Strata Group contributed to a facility that directly addresses regional skill shortages and supports the next generation of trade professionals in Hawke’s Bay.
