THE BRIEF
Situated at Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter, Orams Marine, a longstanding provider of superyacht refits was witnessing the industry’s growth and the evolution of vessels. Orams Marine recognised the need for a world-class facility capable of servicing a diverse range of vessels.

Enter Strata, the driving force behind the civil and structural design of this venture. Tasked with creating a superyacht refurbishment facility and two multi-storey mixed-use buildings encompassing retail, workshops, offices, and a car park.

THE OUTCOME
The result? One of the Southern Hemisphere’s most comprehensive superyacht refit facilities. Strata’s prowess in structural and civil engineering is evident in the completed dockyards and boat shed, capable of housing vessels up to 800 tonnes and 60m long.

An expansive 12,000sqm hardstand capable of supporting an 820-tonne travel lift, needed to move vessels from the water to the boatshed, and including a cutting-edge water treatment plant. With these additions and the help of Strata Group, Orams’ capacity has tripled, allowing them to haul out a remarkable 80% of the world’s superyacht fleet.

LOOKING AHEAD
The immediate future holds the construction of stage two, featuring commercial buildings, a multi-storey residential masterpiece, and enhanced maintenance facilities catering to ferries, fishing fleets, and commercial vessels.
