THE BRIEF
As Havelock North continues its remarkable growth, the demand for innovative spaces dedicated to work, shopping, and dining has surged. This gave rise to the Joll Road precinct, a transformative endeavour constructed over two dynamic stages. Strata Group played a pivotal role, taking charge of civil and structural design from the project’s inception, guiding it through its multi-staged evolution.
THE SOLUTION
Strata’s contributions encompassed the complete structural and civil solutions for both stages, including stormwater drainage, car park design, seismic design and construction monitoring. Notably, as part of the Stage 2 foundation design, Strata Group worked with the contractors to utilise a cost-effective and easy-to-use permanent formwork that sped up construction and saved the client time and money. A testament to Strata’s ability to think outside the box.
THE OUTCOME
The development promotes a vibrant mixed-use space with retail, food and office spaces. Collaborating closely with RTA architects, we’ve brought to life a captivating laneway-style space that defies the conventional limitations of small areas, proving that even modest spaces can wield a profound impact. This is urban design at its best.
Both Stage 1 and Stage 2 have now been successfully completed, showcasing Strata’s expertise in executing projects of this scale. Encompassing efficient structural design, that meets the seismic and wind demands of the site, while maintaining open spaces for people to work and gather in.
